Derma plane Q&A

1. WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?

Dermaplaning is a treatment that uses a medical scalpel to gently exfoliate the outer layer of dead skin cells and remove fine facial hair, commonly known as “peach fuzz”

2. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
  • Brighter, more youthful skin tone.
  • Removing small hairs or peach fuzz.
  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Smoother skin.
  • Ease hyperpigmentation.
  • Evening skin tone.
  • Removing bacteria and clearing pores to limit breakouts.
  • Reducing deep scars from acne or pox.
3. Will it make the hair on my face grow back thicker and darker?

No. There are different types of hair that grow on the body; vellus hair and terminal hair. Vellus hair is found on most areas of the body except palms, soles, lips and genital areas, whereas terminal hairs are found on the scalp, underarms and pubic region. The soft and fine vellus hair grows back at the same rate and texture.

4. How long is the treatment? How often can I have it done?

Dermaplaning takes anywhere between 30–45 minutes and can be performed every 3–4 weeks. The treatment itself removes approximately 21 days worth of dead skin, so it is important to let your skin rejuvenate before your next appointment.

5. Is the treatment safe?

This treatment is extremely safe.

6. IS IT SAFE FOR ME?

You are most likely a good candidate for the treatment if you suffer from aging, dry, rough, or uneven skin tone. This treatment might also be right for you if you have shallow acne scars, fine lines or slight hyperpigmentation (dark spots)

7. What are the Results?

Right after the treatment, your skin looks more radiant and feels smoother. You get a more uniform skin tone and texture. Get better penetration from skin care products and smoother cosmetics application.

8. WHAT TO SHOULD ONE AVOID AFTER TREATMENT?

Avoid direct sun exposure for 3 days.
– Avoid extreme heat for 3 days.
– Do not use scrubs or other exfoliates for 1 week.
– Avoid actives for at least 3–5 days. Using products with potent anti-aging ingredients like AHA’s, BHA’s, vitamin C, and retinol can irritate and inflame your skin.
